Deepwick: the trading platform created by EV Trading Labs

Meet Deepwick, created by EV Trading Labs to analyse charts, develop scripts and test trading strategies in the browser.

Deepwick is a platform created by EV Trading Labs. With Deepwick, we bring charting, scripting and backtesting together in a browser-based trading research tool.

If you know us through our indicators and MT5 tools, this is another part of the same work: turning a market idea into rules that can be executed, observed and reviewed. This article introduces the project and explains its relationship with EV Trading Labs.

From a chart idea to a test you can inspect

A visual signal is a starting point. To investigate it, we need to define when it appears, what invalidates an entry and how a trade closes. We also need to understand where the backtest result comes from.

That is the direction we want for Deepwick: a clear path between the chart, the strategy logic and its trades. The useful question is not just how much a simulation made, but which rules produced the result and under which assumptions.

What you can do in Deepwick

  • Analyse charts with indicators and drawing tools.
  • Write and run scripts using Deepwick Script, a language compatible with Pine Script v5 features. Check each script: compatibility does not mean that every piece of code runs without changes.
  • Test strategies and inspect trades, equity and drawdown.
  • Explore community scripts and other users’ contributions.

Features and plan availability evolve. Check the current information on the official Deepwick website before choosing the workflow you need.

How Deepwick fits into EV Trading Labs

EV Trading Labs is the team behind Deepwick. Our indicators, tools and articles remain part of EV Trading Labs; Deepwick has its own website and an experience focused on browser-based analysis and research.

We also publish scripts through the EV Trading Labs profile on Deepwick. It is a place to explore our work inside the platform and find examples from which to investigate your own ideas.

Deepwick does not by itself replace the execution environment of a MetaTrader 5 Expert Advisor. If your system trades in MT5, validation in that environment remains part of the process.

Your first session: start with a simple rule

  1. Open Deepwick and choose an available market and timeframe.
  2. Pick a simple script and read its entry and exit conditions before running it.
  3. Inspect several trades on the chart. Check whether the signal and execution match what you expected from those rules.
  4. Record the test assumptions: period, parameters, costs and execution conditions.
  5. Try another period without retuning everything. An idea that only works on the sample used to tune it needs more investigation.

For more on that last step, read our guide to walk-forward optimisation and backtesting, which explains how to separate optimisation from evaluation.

What a backtest result means

A simulation depends on the available data and the way executions are modelled. A positive historical equity curve does not guarantee future results. Review costs, parameter sensitivity and out-of-sample behaviour before drawing conclusions.

The same standard applies to the strategies we share ourselves. The purpose of the tool is to make checking easier, not to turn a simulation into a promise of returns.
